Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how TreeFast Timer (“the App”) processes information when you use the App, including beta versions distributed through Apple TestFlight.
TreeFast Timer is a workout and interval timer. No user account is required to use the App.
2. Data Controller
The controller responsible for processing information through the App is:
Barry LehmannGermany
Email: barry.lehmann@proton.me
3. Data Stored on Your Device
Workout configurations and timer-related content created by the user are primarily stored locally on the user’s device.
This may include:
- Workout configurations
- Timer settings
- Interval durations
- Workout or exercise names entered by the user
- App preferences
User-entered workout names, exercise names, notes and other free-text content are not transmitted to the analytics provider.
Deleting the App may also delete locally stored App data, subject to the device’s backup settings.
4. Product Analytics
If the user enables “Share anonymous analytics” in the App’s settings, the App uses PostHog to understand how its main features are used, identify technical or usability problems and improve the App. Analytics collection is disabled by default.
The App may transmit analytics events such as:
- A workout being created
- A workout being started
- A workout being paused or resumed
- A workout being completed
- A workout being abandoned
- A built-in workout preset being selected
- A supported App setting being changed
These events may include limited properties such as:
- General workout duration category, such as 15–30 minutes
- Number of work intervals
- The source from which a workout was created, such as quick setup or custom setup
- Approximate elapsed or completion percentage category
- The identifier of a selected built-in preset
- The name of a supported setting and whether it was enabled
- App version
- App build number
- iOS version
- General device category
- Language or locale
- Whether the App is running in a simulator or TestFlight environment
- Event timestamp
- Session identifier
- A randomly generated installation identifier
The randomly generated installation identifier allows events from the same App installation to be associated with each other. It is not intended to directly identify a user.
The App does not transmit the following information to PostHog:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Apple Account information
- Advertising identifiers
- Contact information
- User-entered workout names
- User-entered exercise names
- Notes or other free-text content
- Precise location
- City
- Postal code
- Latitude or longitude
The App does not use analytics data for advertising, cross-app tracking or the creation of advertising profiles.
Session recording and screen recording are not used.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time by disabling “Share anonymous analytics” in the App’s settings. No further analytics events will be collected after the setting is disabled.
5. IP Addresses and Location Information
IP-address-based location enrichment is disabled.
The App does not intentionally collect or store precise location, city, postal-code, latitude or longitude information through PostHog.
An IP address may technically be processed temporarily when communicating with the analytics service, as is generally necessary for internet-based communication. It is not used by us to create location profiles or identify users.
6. Purposes of Processing
Analytics information is processed for the following purposes:
- Understanding whether core App features are used successfully
- Improving the workout-creation process
- Improving the timer experience
- Identifying abandoned or incomplete workflows
- Testing beta versions of the App
- Diagnosing technical or usability problems
- Maintaining the stability and security of the App
Analytics information is not sold to third parties.
7. Legal Basis
Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, analytics information is processed on the basis of the user’s consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time in the App’s settings without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. The App remains fully usable when analytics are disabled.
We limit analytics collection to information reasonably necessary for the purposes described above.
8. Analytics Provider
We use PostHog as a service provider for product analytics.
PostHog processes analytics information on our behalf as a data processor.
Analytics data is processed in PostHog’s European Union cloud environment.
PostHog receives only the limited analytics events and technical properties described in this Privacy Policy.
More information about PostHog’s privacy practices is available at: posthog.com/privacy
9. Data Retention
Analytics information is retained for up to 90 days.
Withdrawing consent stops future collection. Information collected before consent was withdrawn remains subject to the retention period described in this section.
After this period, analytics information is deleted in accordance with the configured retention settings, unless a longer period is required to:
- Investigate a security incident
- Resolve a technical problem
- Comply with a legal obligation
Local App data remains on the user’s device until it is deleted by the user, removed through the App or deleted when the App is uninstalled, subject to device and backup settings.
10. TestFlight
Beta versions of the App may be distributed through Apple TestFlight.
Apple may independently process information relating to TestFlight, including information about:
- App installation
- Device and operating-system compatibility
- Crashes
- Screenshots and feedback submitted by testers
- Beta usage
Apple’s processing of this information is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and terms.
More information is available at: apple.com/legal/privacy
11. International Data Transfers
Analytics data is processed in PostHog’s European Union cloud environment.
Service providers such as Apple may operate internationally. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, applicable legal safeguards are used as required by data-protection law.
12. Your Rights
Depending on applicable data-protection law, users may have the right to:
- Request access to their personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of personal data
- Request restriction of processing
- Request data portability where applicable
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority
Analytics consent can be withdrawn directly in the App by opening Settings and disabling “Share anonymous analytics”.
Because the App does not require an account and does not directly identify users, it may not always be possible to associate analytics information with a specific individual.
To exercise a privacy right, contact: barry.lehmann@proton.me
Users may also contact the data-protection authority responsible for their place of residence.
13. Children
The App is not specifically directed at children below the applicable minimum age for independently consenting to data processing.
The App does not knowingly collect names, email addresses, contact details or account information from children.
14. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the App, its analytics configuration or applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
